Bio – Agnes Carbrey, Artist

Agnes Carbrey is an artist and musician working in the Lexington area.

Education and Training

Agnes received her BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. Her MFA degree is from Parsons School of Design – the New School for Social Research in New York City, where she also taught until moving to Virginia in 1991.

She currently resides in Lexington, Virginia and taught art at James Madison University and Washington and Lee University. She explored Southern France with JMU students in Global Engagement (Study Abroad) every spring from 2009-2019.

Agnes has shown in numerous private galleries, collections, and public spaces in New York City, Philadelphia and the Southeast including Richmond, Charlotte, Chapel Hill, Durham, Atlanta and Charleston, among others.
